For our July Meetup, we’re thrilled to be joined by Nina Krupljanin, a PhD candidate within the Institute of Education & Child Studies at Leiden University whose research focalises the use of VR within trauma therapy for children and adolescents. She’s going to be diving into both her self-developed intervention tool which aims to reduce trauma-related feelings of shame (SHINE-VR, ‘Shame Intervention Virtual Reality’) as well as her recent findings concerning the differences in how VR is experienced and approached by the youth in comparison with those less digitally-native.
As Nina further explains:
“In the first half of my talk, I will present findings from our scoping review on virtual reality (VR) applications in youth mental health. In the second half, I will share preliminary results from our ongoing effectiveness study of a novel VR intervention targeting sexual trauma-related shame in adolescents. I’ll highlight challenges encountered and insights gained, and I hope to spark a conversation about the integration of extended reality (XR) technologies into clinical practice”.
The invites will soon be in your inboxes very soon! Please note that our Meetups are exclusively for members but if you are not yet a member and would like to be, feel more than welcome to sign up (for free!) here.
