If immersive experiences are fundamentally embodied, how do we incorporate our bodies in designing meaningful XR collaboratively?
In this meetup, Joris Weijdom, associate lector of the Professorship (Dis)Connected Technology & Creativity of the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, will share his ongoing practice-based research and artistic practice in Collaborative design in co-located XR spaces.
He has developed a new method called Performative Prototyping and established the Artistic Extended Reality Lab at HKU, which enables embodied XR design collaborations with art students and XR design professionals. Recently, in collaboration with various partners, a co-located infrastructure has been developed to allow multiple physical locations to be connected as a hybrid mixed-reality design environment. These will be further developed in various low-end and high-end approaches for design research and education.
In this presentation, Joris will illustrate these research projects with examples from his own and others’ professional artistic XR design field, along with a nice mix of pragmatic and philosophical considerations.
